This captivating short film takes viewers on a journey that will make them feel like they’re a free diver without actually being in the water.
One Breath Around the World does an incredible job of taking us through the world of free diving. The short from Les Films Engloutis features world-renowned free diver Guillaume Néry as he glides underwater, walks and jumps across the ocean floor, swims under massive ice sheets, and gets up close and personal with whales and sharks.
The film was hot in France, Finland, Mexico, Japan, and the Philippines, but there are many times it’s easier to guess Néry is journeying through an alien planet.
The video begins when Néry enters shallow water and begins his descent. Néry is followed as he gracefully glides through the watering into a truly amazing world. Our guide moves effortlessly through the peaceful water, seemingly at one with everything around him.
As Néry explores deeper and deeper into the ocean, he encounters a variety of marine life. He has incredible interactions with a pod of whales and gets close to a number of sharks. The video’s stunning visuals and peaceful soundtrack make it easy to get lost in the beauty of the underwater world. But at the same time, several moments caused us to feel claustrophobic and trapped as it can be nearly impossible to know which way is up and which way is down.
Julie Gautier, who is Néry’s wife and also free dives, filmed the entire thing, which adds a unique perspective to the video.
Watching Néry in his element helps to understand what a free diver feels while exploring. He’s not just an observer but truly a part of the underwater world.
Get ready to be taken on an unparalleled journey across the world’s oceans.
