It’s all fun and games until a surfer gets in a shark fight in the middle of a competition.
Mick Fanning was competing in a world surfing competition when a shark attacked him in the middle of a run. The Three-time world champion from Australia was luckily unharmed after the shark knocked him off his board.
“I was just sitting there and I felt something just get stuck in my leg rope, and I was kicking trying to get it away,” Fanning said.
It’s fortunate for Fanning and onlookers that this terrifying situation didn’t need up worse than it did.
“I just saw fins. I was waiting for the teeth.”
We’re just glad the teeth never came and rescue made it to him incredibly fast.
“I was swimming in and I had this thought what if it comes for another go at me? So I turned around, so I could at least see it, and before I knew it the boat was there, the jet-skis were there, the jet-skis were there. I just can’t believe it,” he told journalists who were at the competition.
