If classic western showdowns are any indications of the power of tumbleweeds to predict upcoming catastrophe, then something big is about to go down once this tumbleweed army passes by.
In reality, this is just part of the lifecycle of the tumbleweed.
It may be surprising, but a tumbleweed is an actual plant and isn’t just a name for a mixture of random dried up plants – who knew?
Tumbleweeds actually start out as tiny seedlings and develop a round shape. They even grow flowers and produce fruit.
It’s at the end of their lifecycle that they eventually dry up and detach from their roots; becoming the classic dry, round, rolling balls that go wherever the wind blows as they spread their seeds.
